  • The {Stamps} of Life HappyBday2You digital stamp set
  • 8 1/2" x 11" photo paper
  • 3 3/4" x 3 1/2" homemade balloon paper
  • Ellison Design (now Sizzix) Cut n' Emboss Photo Corners #1
  • Tsukineko Brilliance Lightning Black Ink
  • 7/8" white ribbon
  • 4 1/4" x 1 1/4" blue cardstock
  • 4 1/4" x 1 1/2" gray cardstock
  • 4 1/4" x 11" white cardstock
  • 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" red cardstock
  • scrap gray cardstock for die cutting

Directions

  1. Create balloon paper using digital stamps. I used the GIMP software with an 8.5 x 11 300dpi project and simply placed alternate red and blue and balloons on the paper with the brush tool and the balloon brush. I used the vertical and horizontal rulers in the software to evenly space the images and printed the image on a low quality 8.5 x 11 sheet of glossy photo paper for more vibrant color. The hard part is the initial layout of the balloons. Once you have this, if you save it you can then go back and flood fill the balloons any color you want without having to reposition anything to make a different color sheet.
  2. Stamp happy, star, birth and day on ribbon on 5" length of ribbon.
  3. Adhere ribbon to blue cardstock, folding over on ends.
  4. Adhere blue assembly to gray cardstock.
  5. Die cut 2 photo corner using scrap gray cardstock.
  6. Fold base cardstock in half. Hinge will be on the top. Because the red cardstock I had that matched the printed red color would not stand on its own, I used a 110 lb white that I can get locally for a good price for the base. If you have a better quality red, you can just use it for the base instead of matting the red onto a thicker white like I did.
  7. Mat red cardstock to top of white cardstock. If red is too small, trim the card down so no white shows.
  8. Mount ballon paper to top of red mat with top, left and right edges evenly spaced.
  9. Mount happy birthday assembly with dimensional foam.
  10. Mount photo corners to top of balloon paper. I glued the edges to make it look more like paper was actually held in by them.
  11. Stamp 3 stars at bottom and a star in each photo corner.
